Nina loved being a mother! She thought Donna was beautiful. Every time she looked at Donna she saw Don's face. "Yes, you are the spitting image of your daddy!" Nina told Donna, holding her up to look more closely at her. Don hadn't been around since her birth. Nina thought that may have had something to do with Cassandra actually being present during Donna's birth. No, Cassandra was exceptionally bright, and Nina was sure that she had figured out that Donna was Don's child. By just looking at her, one could see the resemblance immediately.
Nina spent the next few months with Donna. She was thankful to Don for providing this house so she didn't have to worry about house payments or bills. He deserved some credit...at least he had tried to help her out financially and provided a roof over their heads. Even Nina was beginning to see that Don wasn't as desirable a man as she once thought he was. Of course, physically Don was still very desirable! But beyond that, Don was never going to be a person to actually "be there" if she should ever really need him. Nina found a job and hired a nanny to care for Donna while she was at work. She had considered hiring a nanny to move in with her, but couldn't afford it. She was certain Don wouldn't pay for such an extravagance...even for Donna.
Donna was growing every day. She seemed happy and was healthy. Her nanny took wonderful care of her. It was obvious that Donna loved her nanny...and that the nanny loved Donna.
Nina joined the work force and was loving her new life. She hadn't seen Don in months...and it didn't matter! She really hadn't missed him...much. She did wonder what was going on with him though. Just how much did Cassandra know? And what had she done about it?
