Dina Goes Out

Dina had been hot tubbing when the phone rang. Her friend, Brandi Broke had called. "Hey. What are you doing tonight. Dustin and I are going out for a while. Would you like to go?" asked Brandi. She had been home so much with the kids, and needed to get out for a few hours. "Sure," said Dina. "I'll meet you there!" Dina then called a cab and left to meet Brandi. She didn't even bother to change out of her bathing suit!
Dina arrived just ahead of Brandi. She wanted to have her picture taken. While she was waiting, Dina hopped into the booth for her pictures.
She saw her friend Brandi walking towards her. But who was that good-looking man beside her? As they got closer, Dina realized that Dustin was with Brandi. "Wow! Did he ever grow up cute!" said Dina, surprised at the attraction she felt towards Dustin.
Brandi and Dina talked while Dustin played the arcade games. As Dina returned from the bathroom, Dustin was standing outside the door. He struck up a conversation with Dina. "Yeah, I'm all grown up now. I'm taking classes at the University." Dustin thought Dina was pretty hot, even if she was older than him. Brandi watched as Dina talked to her son. Looks like Brandi better keep a close eye on Dustin!

Casey Has A Birthday

Casey stood in front of her birthday cake. She had grown up well. Cassandra could hardly believe that her little baby was no longer a baby. She had wanted another child, but had been unable to get pregnant. Of course, if her and Don's sex life had been a little more frequent then perhaps it would be possible! Cassandra didn't believe that Don wanted another child.
Casey stood with her hand on her hip, smiling brightly. She had lived a charmed life. The only sad memory she had was when her Grandpa had died. She had felt sad then. But today she was happy. It was her birthday!
Casey liked it when her mother put her hair in braids. Now that she was older, she could fix it herself any time she wanted.

Nina Moves In

When Darren heard that Nina had moved into Kaylynn's house, he had to stop by and see for himself. He was completely surprised to see that Nina was pregnant. He couldn't help but laugh. "How could she have been so stupid! Didn't she know Don by now?" He was immediately sorry that he had laughed. He did not think the situation was funny at all. In fact, he was as angry as he'd ever been at Don. Another child...more irresponsibility. Didn't Don care what he was doing to these young peoples lives? Nina saw Darren laugh and burned with anger. How dare he laugh at her. She knew she looked fat and ugly...but he was being rude to remind her of that fact!
Darren turned away from Nina. Memories of Kaylynn suddenly swept over him. His Kaylynn had died right here in this house. And now, here was Nina...another victim of Don Lotherio. Admittedly, Nina and Don deserved each other...but what about Cassandra? Darren had loved her once and she certainly didn't deserve this from her husband. He felt sad and sickened by the whole situation.
"Who do you think you are , coming over here like this? I didn't invite you over. It's none of your business what Don and I do, is it? Now get out! And I wouldn't be talking about this to Cassandra if I were you. You will regret it!" Cassandra yelled loudly at Darren. Darren had never been as angry as he was at this moment. Because of Don, Kaylynn had suffered the shame and responsibility of being a single mother. And now he was repeating his shameful behavior with yet another woman. And Don was cheating on his wife, Cassandra. Darren felt very sorry for Cassandra. She would surely be hurt repeatedly by this man. The only positive thing Don had ever done was to father Donald. Darren left as Nina slammed the door shut behind him.
Nina then went out and harvested the oranges off the trees. Kaylynn's grave silently rested beneath the shade of the tree. Nina didn't even notice it was there.

Nina Is Expecting

Nina looked at the paper as she waited for her taxi. Her back hurt...she looked fat and ugly...and she was pregnant! She was not happy about it either! She knew she shouldn't have gone over to Don's house that night. But he had sounded so sad on the phone. She hadn't been able to say no when he asked her to stop by. She had no intentions of staying long. It's true, she hadn't seen Don in months, and she wanted to see him. With Cassandra working it had seemed a perfect opportunity.
"Now look at me!" thought Nina. She was pregnant with Don's child and feeling pretty low. She couldn't blame Don completely for what happened. She knew that. Today she was moving out of the little house she and her twin sister Dina shared into her own place. Don had stopped by that very morning and given her the keys to her own little house! There was only one negative about this whole situation...it was the house Don had bought for Kaylynn!
Nina walked into her new home, ready to begin a new life.

Donald Langerak Dreamer

Donald was having a birthday! Darren stood, watching as Donald's transformation began. Only a few months had passed since Donald had become a part of Darren's family. And, surprisingly, Don hadn't been by even once. Darren had expected some kind of trouble from Don...but none had come. It was true that the adoption had been classified as "private". But Darren remembered Mortimer, standing outside his home as the social worker delivered Donald to him. Had he known? Had he told anyone? Darren would never know that Mortimer had taken that bit of knowledge with him to the grave. Donald's transformation was complete. He would now be going to school, bringing friends home. Darren was happy for Donald. He seemed happy and barely seemed to remember his mother. Darren showed Donald pictures of Kaylynn. He wanted her to always be remembered. She had been a good mother to Donald.
Donald was a normal little boy. He went to school, played games on the computer, made friends. Darren had made sure his life would be happy. Though he didn't have everything materially, Donald couldn't be more loved.

Don And Nina Woo Hoo

Don put Casey to bed. He then led Nina upstairs to his bed. There he lay with Nina. He needed the comfort she had to offer...in her arms. So many bad things had happened lately.
And Don made love to Nina again and again. He was already beginning to feel a lot better now! And Mortimer was no longer around to keep him in line.

Don and Nina

After Mortimer's death, Cassandra began to spend more of her time at work and it was paying off. She was getting promotions, and bringing home more money. She and Sandy Bruty became very good friends. Sandy came home often with Cassandra from work. Casey was getting good care from the nanny, so Cassandra didn't have to worry about that.
One evening when Cassandra was working late, Don asked Nina to stop by. He hadn't seen her for a while, and he had missed her. Don lightly kissed Nina upon her arrival. Alexander chose just that moment to leave the Goth mansion. He had been visiting with his niece, since Cassandra was still at work. According to Don, Cassandra wasn't expected to return until late tonight. Alexander left, heading back to the University. Whether Alexander saw the kiss exchanged between the two of them Don didn't know. Alexander said nothing as he left.
Don and Nina talked about the unfortunate death of Kaylynn. While Nina and Kaylynn had never been close, she knew that Kaylynn had once been involved with Don. It was so sad...she was so young. And what ever happened to her child?
Don looked at Nina, causing her to blush. He couldn't help it. She was so beautiful...and it had been so long since they had been together. Don continued to flirt with Nina, telling her how lovely she was...how desirable...how sexy.
Don reached around, grabbing Nina on her buttock, shocking even Nina with his brazen display of affection. He couldn't help himself! He was crazy about this woman. The longer he was with her, the stronger his desire grew. What Don didn't know was that his daughter sat in her high chair...quietly...watching her daddy and Nina.

Don Cleans Up

After Kaylynn's death, Don went over to the house. When he first entered, he could see the damage left by the fire. He immediately set about getting the place cleaned up. As he cleaned, Don remembered when he had first heard of Kaylynn's death. He couldn't believe it! His first thought had been of his son. Donald was safe inside the walls of the Pleasantview Orphanage. Don decided to not make any hasty decisions. He decided to leave Donald right where he was for the time being. What else could he do? Cassandra wasn't likely going to allow him to bring his illegitimate son to live with them, was she? He would just have to wait and think this thing through.
Don thought of Donald as he cleaned up the home his son had lived in with Kaylynn. He decided to just call the orphanage and ask how Donald was doing. Don dialed the orphanage and spoke with the administrator. "Donald Langerak has already found a new home. It was a private adoption so I can't give you any more information, Mr. Lothario. Don't worry...we check out our applicants very carefully. You can be sure he was adopted into a wonderful family!" Don could hardly believe what he had just heard.
Bringing his hands to his face, Donald wept softly. He wept for the loss of his son. He wept for Kaylynn...he had not done right by her and he now felt guilty. Why hadn't he tried to see his son more often? Was he lost to him forever?
Don went outside into the sunshine. He needed to get out of that house...that morgue. Kaylynn's headstone lay in the back yard, nestled beneath the fruit trees in a shady spot. What would Don do with the house now? His life suddenly felt as empty as the jar he looked into.

Meanwhile At The Goth Mansion...

While Darren was busy raising Kaylynn and Don's son, Mortimer finally died in his old age. He died peacefully...and took his secret with him. Mortimer had never told Don and Cassandra of his discovery that Darren had adopted Don's son, Donald. Mortimer reasoned that Don rarely saw the boy anyway...and he had a daughter...a legitimate daughter to be concerned about. He didn't want Don's illegitimate son to someday come, expecting a share of his millions.
Casey was saddened at the death of her Grandpa Mortimer.
Cassandra had an especially hard time coping after Mortimer's death. He had always been there for her, no matter what. She knew he had always looked after her. And if she had a problem she only had to go to her daddy and he took care of it for her. While Don was sad that the old man was dead, he was also a little relieved. At least he wouldn't have anyone watching every move he made anymore.

Donald Grows And Learns

Over the next few months, Darren concentrated on his new son Donald. The first time Donald called him daddy was one of the happiest moments of Darren's life.
Darren taught Donald to walk...
and to talk...
and he helped him learn to use the potty...
It was just the two of them. He spent all his waking hours with one goal...to take care of Donald. Really, Donald learned very quickly. Kaylynn had worked with him and he already knew so much when he arrived. Darren knew Kaylynn had been a good mother and had spent a lot of time teaching her son. Donald's birthday was only a few days away!

Darren Adopts Donald

Darren was again devestated at the death of the woman he loved. He could hardly believe it, even these few months later, that she was really gone. Dead. Had died in an awful fire. But...what had happened to her son? Darren heard the entire story about how the maid had held the little boy...tried to comfort him...and then the social worker came and he was gone. But where was he? Darren learned that the boy had been taken to the Pleasantview Orphanage. Was he still there? Or had Don already come after him? Darren made several calls and found out that Kaylynn's son was still at the orphanage. This is what he could do for Kaylynn! He could provide for her son...raise her son as his own. He was sure that was what she would have wanted. Darren immediately called and requested to adopt the boy. He had been accepted, and today was the day little Donald was to arrive. Darren waited impatiently for his new son to get here. When they finally arrived, Darren ran outside and watched as the social worker unbuckled Donald's seatbelt.
The social worker lifted Donald out of the van and held him closely. Donald was a little uncertain, until he saw Darren. He remembered seeing this man with his mother. He remembered that his mother seemed to like this man...so he must be nice. Everything was going to be all right after all!
Donald sat on the soft grass, looking around at his new surroundings as his new "daddy" and the social worker talked.
Darren bent to pick up his new son. Turning around he saw Pao Mellon, the postman walk past. And then he saw Mortimer Goth himself. That was bad luck! He was hoping to keep the adoption a secret from the Goth family. He didn't want any trouble from Don. Now...here was Mortimer...strolling by and looking at the social worker...and you could tell he was taking it all in. Well, it couldn't be helped. It was official now...Donald was now Darren's son and would be called Donald Dreamer from now on. There wasn't anything to be done about it...even with all his millions. Darren held his son Donald closely. He thought of Kaylynn. "This is for you Kaylynn. I promise to do everything in my power to give "our" son a happy life! I love you Kaylynn." Darren would show his love for Kaylynn by taking care of her son.

Kaylynn Dies

Kaylynn rushed Donald outside and sat him down safely...far away from the fire. After telling Donald to stay there, she rushed back into the burning house. No one knows for certain Kaylynn's reasons for going back inside. Perhaps she meant to call the fire department? Or maybe she was concerned that the maid had been unable to get out.
Kaylynn watched in shock as the fire grew larger and hotter. She was quickly overcome by the billow of smoke that was coming out of what used to be her stove.
Suddenly a huge gust of fire reached Kaylynn where she stood. Kaylynn was quickly engulfed in the flames and died.
Donald crawled back into the house, looking for his mother. The maid gently picked Donald up and took him back outside. He had already called the fire department and they were on the way. It was too late though. Kaylynn was dead.
The maid stayed, holding and comforting Donald, until the social worker came and took him away.

Kaylynn And Donald

Kaylynn sat beside Donald as he played with his toy rabbit. "Looks like it's just you and me, Donald" Kaylynn said. "We don't need anyone else, do we? We make up our own family!" It wasn't the dream that Kaylynn had once had for having a family. But...she was happy...she had Donald. And she had fallen in love with a wonderful man...Darren Dreamer. Who know what was going to happen with him?
Kaylynn went downstairs to start breakfast. She felt like having pancakes this morning. Donald always liked his pancakes with maple syrup on them. She tried to limit his sugar intake, but a little bit wouldn't hurt him, would it? She mixed up the batter and put the pancakes on the stove to cook.
Just then she heard Donald cry loudly. Kaylynn quickly ran upstairs, frightened that something bad had happened to Donald. Donald was upset because he couldn't get into the bathroom. Kaylynn was relieved. She didn't know what she would do if anything happened to her son. Kaylynn picked Donald up and took him to the bathroom, sitting him on his own little potty chair. She stood waiting until Donald finished.
Kaylynn emptied the potty chair and washed her hands. She then picked Donald up and started down the stairs. "What is that smell?" Kaylynn thought. The maid had just arrived and was downstairs as Kaylynn reached the bottom of the stairs. She put Donald down and saw a bright flash out of the corner of her eye. "The pancakes!" Kaylynn yelled, just as the stove burst into flames. Kaylynn grabbed Donald and ran for the front door. The house was on fire!
